It is produced when limestone (CaCO₃) is calcined in a kiln to form quicklime, which is then pulverized into a powder.

Chemical Composition

• Calcium Oxide (CaO): 80–95% (depending on grade)

• Minor components: MgO, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃

• Very low moisture content

Key Properties

• Highly reactive, especially with water

• Generates heat when mixed with water (exothermic reaction)
